Family Feud

What's the author's message in the book " That was then, This is now" ? The author's message was to teach the readers about friendship and family also, how we teach each other life lessons. In he beginning Bryon and Mark were close as if they were brothers then towards the end of the book they grew apart. Bryon and Mark grew apart towards the end of the book because they were going their different ways in life. Bryon found drugs under Mark's bed and called the cops on him because those were the drugs that got M&M sick in the head.Bryon was trying to teach mark a life lesson. Bryon was trying to teach Mark that drugs can hurt people in dangerous ways and it's not the way to go. I think Bryon should have never called the cops on Mark because that was like his brother and family don't do that to each other. It's not right.
