Is spending time in jail a good way to earn redemption for breaking the law ?

Spending time in jail is a good way to earned redemption for breaking the law. When a criminal is in jail that victim no longer has to worry about that specific person hurting them again. Also, now the victim's family has closure and they know who did the crime. Lastly, the criminal has learned his or her lesson because of the horrible experience him or her had in jail make him or her not want to go back to jail. This shows that spending time in jail is a good way to earn redemption for breaking the law.
