AMS Literature: Jordi

Hello,

My name is Jordi Reddick and I am an 8th grade student at AMS. I do not like to read. I enjoy listening to old school throwback music. I do not have a favorite place to read because I do not read, but if I ever do read it will be in my room. I would read in my room because it has everything in there like my computer that has all my music in it. When I read, I want music I like to be playing.

I do not have a favorite book because I do not read.

Currently, I am read "Alabama Moon". The book is about a young boy trying to make his way through life.

I hope you enjoy my post about the books I'm currently reading even though I'm not reading.

Select ONE of the following topics to write about in our AMS Blog. Draft your response below.

* Explain why you think Bryon took the blame for cutting off Angela’s hair. Then discuss a time when you took the blame for something you did not do.

* Bryon says, “A reputation is a hell of a thing to have; you got to kill yourself to keep it.” What do you think Bryon means by this. Explain what his reputation is. Then discuss how you think other people see you in school or in your neighborhood. Is it different from how you see yourself?

1. If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with any of the characters in the book, who would it be? Why? Who would be your last pick? Why?

2. The main character wants to be your PenPal to talk about everything he has been going through and get advice from you. Write them a letter discussing the conflicts he is going through, then write about how you would deal with the situation if it were you. Make the main character feel good by telling them about their strengths and what they could work on.

3. Pretend you are the author of the book and you are on Oprah! She asks you, “Do you think people are basically good-hearted or basically selfish?” Based on the characters in this novel, what would you answer?

4. This book takes place in the 1970s. What have you learned about the time period? Do you think the world is better or worse off now?
