Trying to survive to the end

I would be stranded on an island with Cathy

One reason is that she won't go crazy and panic

Also she would be helpful to help us live

Maybe get some help with the plane or whatever you came on

My comment is that she would only give us a lot of help kind of like call for help and etc ....

Why would you pick Cathy over Mark and Bryon? Explain what about her personality makes her a better candidate than other characters in the book.

Select ONE of the following topics to write about in our AMS Blog. Draft your response below.

* Explain why you think Bryon took the blame for cutting off Angela’s hair. Then discuss a time when you took the blame for something you did not do.

* Bryon says, “A reputation is a hell of a thing to have; you got to kill yourself to keep it.” What do you think Bryon means by this. Explain what his reputation is. Then discuss how you think other people see you in school or in your neighborhood. Is it different from how you see yourself?

2. The main character wants to be your PenPal to talk about everything he has been going through and get advice from you. Write them a letter discussing the conflicts he is going through, then write about how you would deal with the situation if it were you. Make the main character feel good by telling them about their strengths and what they could work on.

3. Pretend you are the author of the book and you are on Oprah! She asks you, “Do you think people are basically good-hearted or basically selfish?” Based on the characters in this novel, what would you answer?

4. This book takes place in the 1970s. What have you learned about the time period? Do you think the world is better or worse off now?
