THEME:RASCISM ON ''THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS KNOW''

I think that racism is the theme of the book so far. One reason I think this books theme is racist is because Mike got beat up for trying to save an African American girl from getting beat up. Another reason why this book is mostly racist is because Connie was being racist to Mike by letting them beat him up after he saved her life. The last reason why this book is mostly racist is because the people that beat up mike wanted to beat him up without even wanting to know what happened.This book is ok.

Make the main character feel good by telling them about their strengths and what they could work on.

3. Pretend you are the author of the book and you are on Oprah! She asks you, “Do you think people are basically good-hearted or basically selfish?” Based on the characters in this novel, what would you answer?

4. This book takes place in the 1970s. What have you learned about the time period? Do you think the world is better or worse off now?
